The Magnetic Island Photography Showcase is an annual photography competition and exhibition. The aim of the Showcase is to capture and display the incredible natural beauty that Magnetic Island/Yunbenun has to offer.
The competition is open to photographers of all levels whose images have been captured on Magnetic Island or its surrounding waters and the exhibition highlights the work of other local photographers.
The Showcase is organised and run on a volunteer not-for-profit basis by a committee of local Magnetic Island photographers and nature lovers under the auspices of the Magnetic Island Community Development Association (MICDA).

The Showcase
The Magnetic Island Photography Showcase was held at beautiful Tamarind Events on McCabe Cresent, Arcadia, from Saturday October 4th to Tuesday October 7th.

This year's competition brought in over 280 entries from 118 entrants in 13 categories. As always, the quality of the photos was amazing, and all fulfilled the main objective of showcasing the beauty of Magnetic Island and our incredible lifestyle.
The exhibition included historical photos on loan from the Magnetic Museum as well as photos from local photographers and Showcase committee members Bruce Hobby, Kaspa Blewett and Laurence Scheele. Also on display were some incredible drone images taken by Oliver Scheele, and a beautiful display of images and information about our native vegetation by Peter Hansen.

We sincerely thank all of our sponsors, supporters, helpers and photographers who entered the competition and to everyone who came along to view these amazing photos.
A special thank you to Meredith and Hilary from Tamarind who allowed us to use this very special venue for Showcase 25!

The photos below show the fantastic venue and some of our visitors to the Showcase.

The photos below show the boards displaying competition entries - over 280 entries from 118 entrants in 13 categories.

Images by local photographers Bruce Hobby, Lawrence Scheele, Kaspa Blewett, Oliver Scheele and Peter Hanson were also on display

And the Magnetic Museum was kind enough to lend us some of their historical photos again this year, of course all taken around the island.

The Winners
As with the previous two events, the committee was very excited about the quality of the entries. This year the winners were chosen by People's Choice over the first two days of the Showcase, which made it even more fun for the visitors to the event. Everyone was very engaged, and it caused quite a few interesting discussions within the groups visiting! The winners and runners-up are shown along with the category sponsors in the slideshow below, as well as some photos of the winners receiving their prizes. We hope you enjoy the lovely winning images, but please keep in mind that the Showcase is more about displaying our island's natural beauty and involving the community. In our opinion everyone who entered the competition or came along to see the Showcase was a winner!
